The diagnosis of a benign lesion is made by the Dermatologist when a lesion does not cause a risk of harm for the health of the patient.

Examples of benign lesions include (non-exhaustive list): seborrheic keratosis, nævus (mole) of a benign nature, acrochordons, milium, cherry angioma, benign cyst, and dermatofibroma.

A patient who considers that the sums claimed from him after December 6, 2015, relate to insured services within the meaning of the Health Insurance Act may, in writing within five years following the date of payment, claim reimbursement at the Régie de l’Assurance Maladie du Québec, which will then reimburse the amount, announced that its billing was not allowed, and will recover this amount from the professional or third party involved
